Member of Hamas Political Bureau, Husam Badran, a father of four, was born in 1966 in Askar refugee camp in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus. 

His family was forcibly displaced from the Lod City by Zionist gangs during the 1948 ethnic cleansing of Palestine.  

Badran received his elementary education in UNRWA-run schools in the camp and finished his high school at the Islamic School in Nablus. 
A holder of a BA in History and Archaeology from An-Najah National University, Badran completed his master's studies but did not obtain his degree certificate due to his repeated arrests by Israeli occupation forces. 

Badran, who joined Hamas as a young man, helped establish Hamas' Islamic student wing in high school and was one of the leading Islamic Bloc activists in An-Najah National University in 1985.   
After the Israeli occupation authorities closed off An-Najah National University for years, Badran re-structured the Islamic Bloc in the university in 1991. 

He worked as a teacher and a director of the Nablus Press Office. 
Detained by Israeli occupation forces in 1995, Badran was subjected to harsh interrogation in Israeli prisons. 

One of the senior Al-Qassam Brigades in the West Bank during the Second Intifada, Badran survived an assassination attempt on 15 April 2002 when Israeli occupation warplanes fired two missiles at an orchard in the Jordan Valley, killing two of his bodyguards and injuring three others, before Israeli occupation forces managed to detain him. 
    
Badran was detained several times by Israeli occupation forces and had been jailed for nearly 14 years in Israeli prisons. 

In 2008, Badran was elected as a member of the Supreme Leadership Commission of Hamas detainees in Israeli prisons. 

Badran was released by the Israeli occupation authorities as part of the Wafa al-Ahrar prisoners swap deal in 2011 and was deported to Syria before moving to Qatar. 

Badran wrote dozens of articles and several published and not-yet-released books.  

After being exiled by the Israeli occupation authorities, Badran served as a spokesperson for Hamas and a member of Hamas' Information Office. 

In 2017, Badran was elected a member of Hamas politburo and head of Hamas' National Relations Portfolio.
