The leader in Hamas, Khalil Al-Haiya said that the latest talks between Hamas and Fatah in Egypt aimed to lay the foundations for the unity government so it may exercise its authorities in the Gaza Strip, noting that there are no barriers in the way  of the government in Gaza.

He added as well that Palestinians took their decision to unify and they will never retreat back, confirming that the recent talks managed to stress the unity government's commitment toward Gaza and that it is now the responsible for all the issues in the Gaza Strip.

Punitive measures:

Pertaining the recent punitive measures that were imposed on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, Al-Haiya said that the unity government is expected to swiftly lift  them all, and work to ease all the crises that the Palestinian people in Gaza have long anguished under it.

Upcoming  Cairo meeting:

Al-Haiya noted that the upcoming  meeting for the Palestinian factions in Cairo is on the 21 Nov, and it is expected to discuss several issues including: the National Council, the general elections, forming a unity government and the public freedoms file.

Civil employees:

He noted that it was agreed to form a legal committee to look into the status of the civil workers in the Gaza Strip to tackle their crisis, adding that the unity government is expected to pay their salaries.

Crossings:

Concerning the crossings in the Gaza Strip, he said that the unity government will supervise them noting that Rafah terminal needs a comprehensive plan to manage it. In this regard, he expressed hopes that Egypt will hopefully open it to ease Palestinians' suffering.

The West Bank:

He said that the reconciliation agreement in 2011 included both Gaza and the West Bank, noting that all Palestinians should enjoy the national unity.

War and Peace:

Al-Haiya said that no one has the right to initiate wars or negotiations individually, noting that Hamas has never went for warm but has been always a defendant for the Palestinian people.

He concluded by saying that the united decisions can be taken when all Palestinian factions agree on a united vision.
