Head of Hamas’s Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, phoned the head of the Moroccan government, Saad Eddin Othamni, Monday afternoon, and briefed him on the details of the Palestinian reconciliation agreement.

During the call, Haniyeh brought up the issue of the city of Jerusalem and the challenges faced by Jerusalemites amidst the Israeli Occupation’s plans to impose a spatial division in Al-Aqsa Mosque and other schemes that aim to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

He said that all these points were a driving force which prompted  the taking action towards achieving the reconciliation in order to face all these challenges as a unit.

Haniyeh praised the role of Morocco in the leadership of the Jerusalem Committee and their efforts to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy sites.

For his part, Othmani expressed his great contentment with the agreement, hoping that the Palestinian people and the Gaza Strip will witness a breakthrough.

“We congratulate the Palestinian people on this agreement, and you will find our assistance and support until Palestine is liberated.”

The Moroccan prime minister stressed the great interest that His Majesty the King has for the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem, expressing the hope that this agreement will be a good start for the Palestinian people.
