A number of media outlets have reportedly stated that Qatar opposes the Palestinian national reconciliation and that it is also dissatisfied with the recent rapprochement between Hamas and Egypt; stating that there is tension between Hamas and Egypt. In this regard, Hamas assures that these allegations are completely unfounded. This took place during a meeting held by head of Hamas,Yehya Al Sinwar with Palestinian youth in Gaza city on Sunday.
It is worth noting that Qatar had a remarkable role in supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in general and the Gazans in particular during the longstanding harsh siege. Moreover, Qatar carried out dozens of humanitarian, reconstruction and infrastructure projects which reflected positively on life in Gaza and contributed significantly to prevent the collapse in Gaza Strip during the years of siege.
We do affirm that Qatar has always shown keenness to achieve the Palestinian national reconciliation and to end division and supports any effort to achieve it.
