Haniyeh reviewed the recent political developments, namelythe Palestinian reconciliation. He assured that Hamas is serious regarding the implementation of the agreements stating that the Palestinian unity is vitally needed at this stage.
Haniyeh stressed the importance of the Jordanian role to the success of the Palestinian reconciliation referring to the strong Jordanian-Palestinian relationship and to the historical ties between the two peoples.
He recalled the Battle of Dignity and the great victory achieved by the deceased king Al Hussain in securing the release of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. Haniyeh added, “Our people can not forget the picture of King Abdullah while he was donating his blood for the sake of Palestinians during the aggression against Gaza and the royal donation of the Jordanian Hospital in Gaza.”
Haniyeh stated Hamas rejects all conspiracies and suggestions of an alternative homeland. “ Palestine is Palestine and Jordan is Jordan. We will not allow the implementation of any theories regarding the alternative homeland in Jordan,” he said.
Haniyeh pointed out Hamas’ keenness on the security of Jordan stressing that Jordan’s national security will always be sacred and protected.
He also expressed Hamas’s appreciation and respect for the Jordanian sovereignty over the Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem, and its rejection of all forms of violations committed against them.
On his part, his Majesty affirmed the continuation of the Jordanian support to the Palestinians especially in facing the current challenges.
Moreover, the King congratulated the Palestinian people on achieving reconciliation and stressed the need to make every effort to prioritize the Palestinian issue and to confront current challenges. Both sides also agreed on the importance of sustaining coordination in the upcoming stage.
