The spokesperson of Hamas, Fawzi Barhoum issued the following:

As part of the preparations for the round of talks in Cairo, Hamas formed its delegation headed by the deputy head of the Politburo of Hamas, Saleh Al Arouri, and the members of the Politburo,Yehia Al Sinwar, Khalil Al Hayyah, Hussam Badran and Salah Al Bardawil.

The leadership of Hamas held a series of internal and factional meetings in which it outlined its  vision for the success of the dialogues based on the National Agreement signed in Cairo on 5/5/2011, and discussed the following issues (PLO, elections, security, social reconciliation, freedoms and formation of the National Unity Government). In addition, Hamas also discussed providing mechanisms and timelines for the implementation of what was agreed upon.

In this context, Hamas stresses the need to combine all efforts to ensure the success of  these dialogues under the Egyptian auspices, and to ensure the national partnership and the unity of the Palestinian people which are critical tools in confronting the Israeli Occupation and ending the suffering of our people in the West Bank as well as in Gaza
