Head of the Hamas’s  Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, phoned Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia and representative to the Arab League , Mikhail Bogdanov to discuss the latest American intentions of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. 

The head of the movement warned of the serious repercussions that will arise if the US administration was to transfer its embassy to Jerusalem.  

Haniyeh stressed that this step is a clear violation of the principles of international law, a flagrant challenge to all international resolutions, and constitutes a direct provocation to Muslims and Palestinians across the globe.

 For his part, Mr. Bogdanov expressed his concern over the American decision, expressing his solidarity with the Palestinian people as well as stressing that the issue of Jerusalem is subject to international resolutions, and  that only by these resolutions can the status and location of the American embassy be determined.

Haniyeh agreed with the Russian official to continue communication and consultation on the matter.
