The head of the Politburo of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh phoned the speaker of the Jordanian parliament, Atef Al Tarawneh to discuss the consequences of Trump’s discussion in Jordan and Palestine.

Haniyeh affirmed his rejection to any denial of the historic role of the Kingdom of Jordan in Jerusalem and its Islamic holy places and his total  refusal to the so- called alternative homeland.

He asserted that this phase requires strengthening the mutual efforts and coordination more than ever to stop this decision which has represented an aggression against Palestine, the Kingdom of Jordan and the entire Islamic world as well.

Haniyeh also praised the efforts of  His Majesty, King Abdullah Bin Al Hussein, the role of the Parliament and their clear and firm position in rejecting this decision and the wide popular protests  in Jordan which all prove the deep strategic  importance of  Jerusalem and the solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Moreover, he stated that the Jordanian Parliament’s position, in particular, was one of the first and strongest positions which had a positive impact on the popular protests in Jordan.

For his part, Tarawneh asserted that the Palestinian cause is a national issue for the Jordanians and the issue of Jerusalem is a priority for King Abdullah bin Al Hussein, the Jordanian people and the Parliament.

Al Tarawneh emphasized the need to continue efforts with all parliamentarians around the world to stop this decision pointing out the importance of the ongoing cooperation and coordination in the upcoming phase.
