In his speech delivered at a conference about Jerusalem held in Gaza, the head of Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh said that the Palestinian people will never forget their central issue which is Jerusalem and their stolen land and will stand firmly in the face of the Israeli attempts to divide the holy city.

He noted that the Israeli Occupation tries to distort the historical facts and realities inside the sacred city to verify its alleged right in it, but the Palestinians' unique steadfastness in Jerusalem has foiled these Israeli attempts.

He said as well that the Palestinian people and the whole Arab and Muslim nations will never  abandon Jerusalem  or hand it over to the Zionists, noting that the long history of Jerusalem shows how the city defeated its occupiers and maintained its Islamic character.

He called upon all Arab and Muslim countries to adopt a strategy to defend the city from the impact of these  decisions that target the Palestinians' existence inside Jerusalem, noting that Arabs and Muslims should act quickly before the American administration moves forward to recognize the Jewish state, to annex the settlements, and to eradicate  the Palestinian  Right of Return.

He said that the PA is required to take clear stances from the ongoing developments and to stop security coordination with the Israeli Occupation and to end the  Oslo agreement once and for all.

Haniyeh concluded by saying that the right response towards the American decision is to activate the Palestinian resistance in Jerusalem to defend it from the American and Israeli intransigence.
