The spokesperson of Hamas, Fawzi Barhoum issued the following:
We , in Hamas, hold the President of the Palestinian Authority , Mahmoud Abbas and the Unity Government the full responsibility for the tragic situation in Gaza which has affected all aspects of life, namely the disastrous situation of the health sector which is on the verge of collapse as a result of the government’s failure to fulfill its duties towards the people of Gaza and the punishment measures imposed by Abbas against Gazans.
We affirm that there is no justification for this abhorrent policy. We call upon Abbas and Unity Government to fulfill their national, moral and humanitarian duties and to provide a decent life for all people in the West Bank and Gaza.
