The member of Hamas Politburo, Mosa Abu Marzouq condemned the Iraqi legislation that denies the Palestinian refugees in Iraq their rights.
Abu Marzouq said Wednesday on Twitter that the Iraqi decision is offensive and goes against the morals of the Iraqi people. It also coincides with the Zionist efforts to impose a coercive settlement of the refugee issue, and is a continuation of targeting the Palestinian refugees which began during the war in Iraq of 2003.
It is worth noting that the Iraqi authorities revoked Resolution 202 issued in 2001, stipulating that the Palestinian refugees should be treated as Iraqis without being granted citizenship, recruitment or political rights. However, they were entitled to obtain identification cards, travel documents, exemption from school and university admission fees, treatment and housing
The new resolution is due to come into effect in 2018 amidst rising concerns among the Palestinian refugees as they continue to suffer from unbearable living conditions.
