Press release issued by the spokesperson of Hamas, Fawzi Barhoum:

The latest decision issued by the Israeli Knesset  of annexing Jerusalem to the Israeli Occupation is a continuation to the series of systematic targeting of the holy city. This scheme aims as well to target the Palestinian existence inside Jerusalem and to distort the history of Jerusalem in order to declare their Jewish racist state. This does not only pose a threat to the Palestinian people, but to the whole region.

In light of the world's silence regarding these Israeli procedures against Jerusalem, the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas is obligated to stop the security coordination with the Israeli Occupation and to   dismantle  the Oslo accord. In addition, he is ought to unite all Palestinian powers to work under a national comprehensive program that adopts resistance as an ultimate choice to defend the Palestinian rights and confront the Israeli Occupation.

In this regard, Hamas calls for activating the Palestinian resistance and for further backing   of the fair Palestinian cause on all levels locally and regionally to confront the racist and extremist  policies adopted by the American administration.
