The member of the Politburo of Hamas and the head of the Foreign Relation Office , Hussam Badran received a letter from the imprisoned Secretary-General of the Popular Front of the Liberation of Palestine(PFLP), Ahmed Saadat.
Saadat called on Hamas to continue with the reconciliation efforts and urged it to “ consider the possibility to participate constructively in the meeting of the Palestinian Central Council, especially if it is held outside Palestine.”
.He expressed his desire " from his narrow cell " to help Hamas achieve the reconciliation and to end division once and for all.
Saadat congratulated Hamas on its 30th anniversary and praised its flexibility in dealing with the issue of the reconciliation and its consequences.
He stressed that the Palestinian reconciliation is the choice of everyone who seeks the best national interest and aims to utilize the strengths of the Palestinian people in confronting the Israeli Occupation. Saadat also asserted that resistance and unity cannot be separated.
He assured that the position of the Popular Front is in harmony with the choices of the Palestinian people and their resistance. He emphasized that his movement is keen to achieve reconciliation and unity by removing any local and international obstacles, namely lifting all the punitive measures imposed on Gaza Strip.
It is worth noting that Saadat made these remarks in response to a letter sent by Badran congratulating him on the 50th anniversary of the Popular Front and briefed him on the latest developments of the Palestinian situation and reconciliation efforts.
Badran also expressed Hamas’ appreciation for the efforts made by the PFLP and its stance towards the Palestinian reconciliation efforts, and pledged to continue the effort to develop the Palestinian collaboration and to strengthen the unity as needed to confront the challenging facing the Palestinian cause.
