Former Head of Hamas Political Bureau Khalid Mesh’al called for the world countries to condemn and undermine US decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem in May.
“The US decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem in May is an intended aggression on our people and homeland,” Mesh’al said.
As he was speaking in Istanbul, he described the plan as “part of the 'Deal of the Century,’ which is being prepared to liquidate the Palestinian cause.”
He condemned the US policy towards the Palestinians, stressing that “this plan will fail as the Palestinians, Muslims and all free people will fight against it.”
Meanwhile, Mesh’al hailed the Turkish support for the Palestinians and urged Turkey to translate its support to something on the ground and put pressure on the US administration in order to reconsider its decision about Jerusalem.
During his speech, Mesh’al thanked Turkey for hosting a meeting for the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, one week after US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israeli occupation, noting that this meeting stressed that Jerusalem is a Palestinian and Arabic city.
