Senior Member of Hamas Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayyah said that Hamas delegation had discussed several dossiers regarding the Palestinian issues, mainly crises of the Gaza Strip with Egyptian officials in Cairo.

In a televised meeting broadcast on Thursday by Al-Aqsa TV, Al-Hayyah said that Hamas had requested to visit Cairo and meet with Egyptian officials, noting that Hamas felt how much Egypt is interested in facilitating the life of Gaza residents.

Egypt told Hamas delegation that it was persistent to open the Rafah Crossing all day regardless to the instable situation in Sinai, noting that Egypt is able to find alternatives to opening the Crossing.

Al-Hayyah also said that Egypt pledged to increase electricity supplies for the Gaza Strip as part of the Egyptian efforts to ease the life of the Gaza residents.

The senior Hamas leader said that his movement’s delegation discussed the issue of the four Palestinians kidnapped in Egypt two years ago, noting that Cairo pledged to seriously study the issue.

Meanwhile, he said that Egypt asked the Palestinian Authority (PA) to allow entry of goods directly through the Rafah Crossing, but it denied their request.

He expressed his sadness that the PA insisted that goods entering Gaza must go through Karm abu-Salem Crossing, which is controlled by the Israeli occupation.

Hamas not warmonger

At the same time, he said that Hamas is not a warmonger, but warned that the increasing pressure in the Gaza residents might lead to a massive explosion in the face of the parties taking part in the siege, mainly the Israeli occupation.

The Islamic Movement, Al-Hayyah said, has been trying with all parties to end the siege on the coastal enclave. He called for the international community to take up its responsibility in this regard and work to lift the Israeli siege on Gaza.

Reconciliation strategic choice

Al-Hayyah stressed that the internal reconciliation with the secular Fatah movement is a strategic choice. “We have leapt over many obstacles,” he said.

Addressing the PA and Fatah President Mahmoud Abbas, he said: “The sole choice is to work together in order to undermine the plans aiming to liquidate the Palestinian cause.”

He called for Abbas to visit the Gaza Strip and called for the government based in Ramallah to carry out its duties in Gaza or steps down.

The only choice for the Palestinians is unity, he said, stressing that the arms of the Palestinian resistance are not subject for discussion.

He said that Hamas officials, who met with representatives of Mohamed Dahlan, discussed the Palestinian issues and the crises of the Gaza Strip.

‘Deal of the Century’

Al-Hayyah said that the Arab leaders told Hamas there is nothing officials about the news reports regarding the ‘Deal of the Century,’ but stressed such deal could not be passed.

He reiterated on Hamas’ position that it rejects expansion of the Gaza Strip towards the Egyptian lands –Sinai.

He stressed that Hamas deals positively with any efforts in support for the Palestinians, but at the same time it does not interfere in internal affairs of any country.

Hamas appreciates all efforts made by any country in support for the Palestinian cause and to facilitate the life of the Palestinians, but at the same time, it does not make relations with any country at the expense of relations with the other.
