As of Sunday morning, the second day of the Great March of Return, Israeli occupation forces have shot dead 16 unarmed Palestinian protesters in Gaza and wounded 1,479 others, Israeli ministry of health said.
On Friday morning, tens of thousands of Palestinians flocked to the eastern Gaza borders to peacefully demonstrate as part of the Great March of Return, through which they demand their right to return to their homes as stipulated by the 194 UN resolution.
Israeli occupation soldiers stationed behind heavily fortified posts and sand barricades used lethal force, according to UN and many global human rights groups, to disperse the peaceful protesters.
A total of 16 protesters were murdered, including children, and 1,479 others were wounded, including 805 with live ammunition, 425 suffocated from teargas and 154 were shot with rubber coated bullets.
It is worth mentioning that the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces has now reached a total of 55 since the US President Donald Trump’s decision to declare Jerusalem as the capital of the Israeli occupation state in December last year.
The Great March of Return, which started on Friday, Palestine Land Day, is planned to continue until June 15, Palestine Nakba Day.
