"Palestinians are willing to resist the Israeli Occupation in the most difficult times," head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh said on Friday.

During the funeral of the Palestinian photojournalist Yasser Murtaja, who was murdered by the Israeli Occupation Forces on Friday, Haniyeh said: "The peaceful Marches held near the borders of the Gaza Strip reflect a bright image of brave, defiant and courageous Palestinians."

"The peaceful activities of the Great March of Return defied the Israeli security theory and the Israeli crackdown against the unarmed protesters," he added.

He noted that the Israeli Occupation failed to whitewash the Palestinian awareness during the Second Intifada, adding that the Great March of Return is held to emphasise the Palestinians' rights, the foremost of them is the right of return to all Palestine.

Haniyeh paid his tribute to Murtaja and praised him for exposing the Israeli war crimes against the peaceful participants in the Great March of Return.

It is worth mentioning that Israeli snipers deliberately shot journalists on duty during their coverage of the demonstrations near the Gaza borders.
