The Islamic Resistance Movement-Hamas said in a statement that UNRWA has no justification to reduce its services, noting that if the donor countries failed to meet their financial obligations, UNRWA can head to the UN Central Fund to cover the fiscal deficit as UNRWA is one of the UN's agencies.

Referring to the remarks of UNRWA Director in Lebanon Matthias Schmale that donor countries do not commit to financial obligations towards UNRWA for political reasons, Hamas called for political as well as popular action to follow up the donor countries and prevent services cuts.

Hamas called on the PLO, the PA and the Palestinian factions to assume their responsibilities and make contacts with concerned parties to confront such measures.

Hamas asked the League of Arab States and Organization of Islamic Cooperation as well as international community to support the Palestinian refugees and pressure the donor countries.

Hamas called on the countries that host the Palestinian refugees, particularly Lebanon, to allow the refugees to protest through sit-ins on borders of the occupied Palestine to demand their right of return, adding that these countries have to warn UNRWA and donor countries of risks and repercussions of the services cuts.

Hamas demanded UNRWA to continue providing humanitarian services to the Palestinian refugees noting that UNRWA has an international, political and humanitarian commitment to have its work continued till the cause of its establishment in 1949 fades by the return of the Palestinian refugees to their homes they were expelled from at hands of the Israeli gangs in the 1948 Nakba.

Confirming its rejection of resettlement, Hamas stated that UNRWA is a living proof of the Nakba. Hamas vowed not to stand idly by UNRWA's cuts and to spare no effort in order to grab the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people until liberation of Palestine and the return of refugees.
