Member of Hamas Political Bureau Musa Dodeen said on Tuesday that his movement’s current priority is to “release the Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.”

In a press release issued to mark the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, the Hamas leader said: “The Prisoners' issue has always been present on the table as Hamas is nationally and morally committed to achieve their freedom.”

He stressed that the Israeli occupation “must release the Palestinian prisoners sooner or later,” noting that the Palestinian resistance “has enough power to achieve this goal and break Israeli arrogance regarding the prisoners.”

Dodeen, who was freed from the Israeli jails as part of Wafaa Al-Ahrar Prisoner Swap, hailed the "legendary" steadfastness of the Palestinians prisoners in the Israeli jails.

He also praised the resilience of the prisoners' families and their defiance of the Israeli attempts to break their spirits.

In addition, he urged to launch an international campaign on the Palestinian Prisoners' Day in solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners.

He called on the Palestinian parties to "put their internal differences aside and work through a united Palestinian strategy to materialise the prisoners' right to freedom.”
