In a hamas.ps exclusive interview on Tuesday, Member of Hamas political bureau Mosa Abu Marzook said that Hamas's visit to Saudi Arabia achieved its goals, adding that the movement's leadership awaits an official visit to Moscow following a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister in Doha.

In the exclusive press interview, Mousa Abu Marzook stated Tuesday that no written ideas have  been formed on calm with Israel, and emphasized that any relevant proposal will be nationally discussed, noting that in  the light of improved relations with Egypt, the latter may push to continue calm talks.

Abu Marzook said that Egypt has left sponsorship of ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, and while none can force any party to do what it rejects to do, it resulted in a political vacuum. “Many parties try to fill this vacuum but we reached nothing with them. Yet, it seems that Egypt intends to again continue its role.” He said.

“Egypt has not invited the negotiating delegation to Cairo in order to continue talks on cease fire, for Hamas-Egypt relation witnessed some tension after Egypt accused Hamas of terrorism and interference in internal Egyptian affairs. However, Hamas and Egypt have now passed this situation, and they initiated a new page of relations through which we hope Hamas delegation will be invited to Cairo.” Abu Marzook added.

Regarding what has been proposed over the calm talks between Hamas and Israel, Abu Marzook said that what are available now are just crystalized ideas on the issue based on the equation of installing the ceasefire before solving Gaza's problems.

He stressed that what would be negotiated must come under a national body, and Gaza must not be separated from the occupied West Bank, noting that claims on specific calm duration and expectations are baseless and Hamas will never pay any political price.

Abu Marzook commented on the issue of Israeli captive soldiers, noting that at first the Israeli occupation denied existence of these soldiers, and then Israel stated that these soldiers were mad and fled to the Gaza strip and therefore should be returned.  “The issue came out to the media to be a scandal that highlighted the discrimination and racism in Israel, and the issue is still developing.” He said

He confirmed that given Israel’s disrespect to the first swap deal, releasing the detainees who were freed in Shalit swap deal in 2011 is a prerequisite before talking about any new swap deal with Israel, adding that Hamas wants guarantees to protect Palestinian detainees against Israel’s threats.

Relating to what has been circulated on an alleged inclusive deal between Hamas and Israel which may include calm and Israeli captive soldiers, Abu Marzook said it's too early to talk about that.

In relation to the role Hamas could play in the region, Abu Marzook said that Hamas is ready to mediate in any issue that can benefit the Arab nation, confirming that Hamas does not intervene in internal affairs of any country, and seeks good relation with all parties.

He stressed that Hamas experienced some retreat in relations with some parties because of the changes in the region, but Hamas “will overcome this stage as the Palestinian cause unites all parties in the region, and we seek good relations with all.”  

On Hamas's relation with Europe, Abu Marzook said that many meetings were held with European countries, including the states that enlist Hamas as terrorist, and talks are continued to overcome this issue. “The problem with the European Union is related to governments, not to the people. Our efforts continue in both directions, with those who support the Palestinian Cause or at least stand neutral, in order to stop providing Israeli occupation with money, weapons and political protection.”
