Head of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas in Gaza Yahya al-Sinwar called on Wednesday for wide participation in the demonstrations of Great March of Return on May 14.

In a meeting dubbed “The Million of Return and Breaking the Siege” held for Palestinian youths in the Gaza City, Al-Sinwar, along with leaders from the Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, said that the 14th and 15th of May will be decisive days in the history of the Palestinian cause.

“The world will witness the wonders that the Gazan youth are willing to make for their pursuit of happiness and freedom,” al-Sinwar added.

“Through simple means of resistance like incendiary kites and burning tyres, our youth were able to place the Palestinian cause in its rightful place on the world agenda and embarass the Israeli occupation leadership," he also said.

He reiterated that the Palestinian factions would stand alongside the Palestinian people until their freedom is achieved as well as the siege imposed on Gaza is broken and the right to return is fulfilled.

“These demonstrations aren’t merely a wave of anger as many people think, but rather an event aiming to prioritise the Palestinian issue once again on the world stage amid the conflicts and economic crises the region is going through,” al-Sinwar stressed.  

He continued: “By tightening the siege on Gaza and starving its people, some thought that the youth of Gaza will revolt against the resistance project. However, our youth are patriotic and are aware of all the plots aiming to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

“Some forces are igniting conflicts between Arab and Islamic countries in the region in order to promote Israel as a friend, while Iran, which supports the Palestinian cause and resistance, is portrayed as an enemy and being sanctioned."

Commenting on the threats of the Israeli occupation to bomb targets in the Gaza Strip and assassinate its resistance leaders in response to the return marches, Al-Sinwar said: "We favour an assassination over a natural death and we are always willing to sacrifice our lives for the just Palestinian cause.”  

Al-Sinwar concluded by saying that he always had faith in the people of Palestine and is confident that they will be able to achieve their long sought after goals and rights.
