Hamas politburo member Khalil al-Hayya on Sunday described the meeting held by his movement's delegation with the Egyptian intelligence service as "positive".

After offering his condolences to the family of Jamal Afana, the Palestinian child who was shot dead by Israeli snipers during the Great March of Return, on Sunday, al-Hayya said, "Following the meeting with the chief of Egyptian intelligence, Abbas Kamel, our brethren in Egypt reiterated their support for the legitimate rights of Palestinians and pledged to try to ease the siege on Gaza and open  the Rafah crossing when possible.”

Al-Hayya explained that "the visit was brief and comes within the framework of bilateral relations between the Palestinian people and Egypt.”

“We discussed the schemes being plotted against the Palestinian cause and the efforts to try and liquidate it,” al-Hayya continued.

"The visit also came within the framework of increasing the Arab and Islamic support for the Palestinian cause, especially Egypt.”

"During the meeting, we discussed the decision of relocating the American embassy to Jerusalem and agreed upon the Palestinian’s legitimate right to resist any attempts of annihilating their cause,”  the Hamas leader confirmed.

Al-Hayya said that the Palestinian people “are determined to move forward in the Great March of Return and break the siege on Gaza and we confirmed the protests peaceful character to our brothers in Egypt.”  

He also called upon the international community to stand by the Palestinian people force the US administration to not transfer its embassy to Jerusalem, and work to lift the siege on the Palestinian people in Gaza.

“We will see you tomorrow at the Great March of Return to achieve our goals and break the siege on Gaza,” al-Hayya concluded.
