The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, mourns the death of the Palestinian prisoner Aziz Oweisat who was pronounced dead in hospital after being beaten by Israeli prison authorities while in solitarily confinement.

We consider his death a new crime added to the Israeli Occupation's appalling record of crimes and violations against the Palestinian people and prisoners in Israeli jails.

Hamas holds the Israeli Prison Service and the Israeli Occupation's government full responsibility for the death of  Oweisat.

We confirm that the continuous crimes perpetrated by the Israeli Occupation against the Palestinian prisoner will not break the prisoners' resistance spirit and kill their hopes for freedom.

The Movement will continue to exert its effort to fulfill its promise to the Palestinian prisoners to release them from Israeli jails, as this pledge is a top priority for Hamas.
