“The Great March of Return will continue, as the Palestinian factions and the National Commission of Great March of Return are working on drawing up a programme for this month”, head of Hamas in Gaza Strip Yihya al-Sinwar said.  

In an interview with Al-Mayadeen, al-Sinwar denied any compromises between his movement and Cairo to end the Great March of Return.

"The Great March of Return will continue until the Palestinian people achieve their inalienable rights, the foremost among them is breaking the siege imposed by the Israeli Occupation on Gaza unconditionally and indefinitely," he added. 

Hamas, along with the other Palestinian factions, called on the Palestinian people to take part in the Great March of Return in the upcoming Friday.

A number of objectives

Al-Sinwar confirmed that all the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip have unanimously agreed on holding the Great March of Return.

The Great March of Return has achieved several strategic goals, including spreading the Palestinian narrative coinciding with the opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, thwarting the schemes aiming to liquidate the Palestinian cause, and putting the Palestinians' right to return on top of the Islamic and Arab nations' agenda, as well as refuting the theory which claims that the Palestinian cause has no place on the world's agenda.  

He noted that the Palestinian people, driven by the current circumstances, selected the option of popular and peaceful resistance, yet such an option doesn’t mean they give up others.  

"The Palestinian people have many options to select, and the option of armed resistance is still on the table," he added. 

Regarding the Israeli threats to assassinate the Palestinian resistance's leaders, Al-Sinwar said, "Our lives are not more valuable than others who sacrificed themselves for the sake of Palestine and its holy sites."

He confirmed that resorting to the option of peaceful and popular resistance wasn’t out of weakness.

Concerning the Israeli threats to launch an offensive against Gaza, al-Sinwar stressed that the Palestinian resistance have "new surprises" to defend the Palestinians against the Israeli aggression noting that "his movement has strong relations with Lebanon's Hezbollah group and the two parties contact each other on a daily basis."   

He expressed his confidence with Palestinians in the West Bank who are capable of supporting the protesters in the Great March of Return in Gaza and called on the Palestinian Authority to halt security coordination with Israeli Occupation.

He confirmed that his movement will not take any dramatic measures in the meantime regarding Gaza's crossings, as the door is still open for Palestinian national dialogue projects.   

'Deal of the Century'

Al-Sinwar denied that his movement came under pressure from any side to accept any compromise or deal such as the 'Deal of the Century'.

"We are willing to sacrifice for the sake of thwarting such schemes," al-Sinwar said adding that his movement "will not respond to any pressure."

He also denied the rumors being circulated, which claim that a senior delegation from Hamas will leave for Cairo soon.
