Member of Hamas Political Bureau Mousa Abu Marzook confirmed Wednesday that Hamas looks attentively to Iran’s stance on Palestine, stressing that the current changes taking place in the region must not reflect on Iran’s position on the Palestinian cause.

In an update on his Facebook page, Abu Marzook said that after the nuclear deal, Iran will become a key player in the region’s many crises, noting that despite all the fuss made about it in the media, the current artificial tension in Hamas’s and Islamic Jihad’s relations with Iran are unwarranted.

Abu Marzook noted that the Iran-US nuclear deal will have major reverberations on the region, especially with the shift in the United States position towards Iran, where the US has come to consider Iran a regional partner and moved away from its old position from Iran as “sponsor of terror”, especially on Palestine.

Abu Marzook pointed out the Palestinian Authority’s opportunistic dealing with the changes in the region, noting that it is more offending than beneficial, such as when the PLO sent member of its Executive Committee Ahmed Majdalani to Tehran to prepare for a visit by President Abbas, and the PA’s proposal to appoint the Iranian ambassador in Amman as a non-resident ambassador to Palestine.

Abu Marzook referred to the unstable and unsettled nature of the changes taking place in the region, affirming that the only constant is the right of Palestinians to Palestine, their right of return, and the fact that Palestinian cause unites all the region’s peoples.
