Press Statement

Issued by Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum: 

The approval of the so-called "Israeli Knesset" on the bill of deducting the provisions of the Palestinian detainees, martyrs and their families from the tax funds collected by the Israeli Occupation government in favor of the Palestinian Authority reflects the aggressive nature this Zionist occupation and it comes in the context of further pressuring the Palestinian people and robbing them of their right to live on their homeland in freedom, dignity, and security.  This is also a desperate and a miserable attempt to undermine the Palestinian resistance and its iconic symbols in preperation for the implementation of the so called "Deal of the Century", which ultimately aims at liquidating the Palestinian cause by besiegement and destruction. 

The property  of the Palestinian people can't be surrendered to the Israeli Occupation by theft and we all have to deal with these racist laws and unjust policies through a unified, effective and strong national strategy in which we protect and defend the rights of our people within the framework of our comprehensive national project.

The movement also stresses the need to reconsider all of the Oslo Accords, particularly its security and economic items. As an intitial step in confronting this racist bill we call upon the The Palestinian Authority to continue to pay the detainees, martyrs and their families. Everyone must play their role and stand by the Palestinian people and their just cause and provide all forms of support to strengthen their steadfastness in the face of the occupation and its racist laws and racist plans, which will comprehensivly stabilize the region as well.
