Press release

Issued by the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas

Regarding the meeting of the advisory committe of the "UNRWA" set to be held on Monday 18/06/2018 in Amman.

We have followed in Hamas with great concern the financial crisis experienced by the "UNRWA"for several years, particularly in the last year after the crisis increased following the US decision to reduce funding to the UNRWA which ultimately affected the services provided by the institution for more than five million Palestinian refugees.

From the beginning of this financial crises, we have been aware that it is a result from the pressure of the Israeli Occupation and various lobbies to remove the Palestinian refugee file from the agendas of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

We confirm our people's right to return to their homelands they were displaced from and compensate them as guaranteed by international law.  As a result we call on all participants meeting in Amman to:

First, hold the international community, represented by the United Nations, full responsibility for the protection of all political and material rights of Palestinian refugees until they return to their homelands.

Second, fully consider the dangers of compromising the file of the Palestinian refugees and their permanent rights, which will not only affect Palestine but the region as well.

Third, refuse all forms of resettlement projects whatever the justifications and pressures.

Fourth, maintain and support UNRWA at all levels to enable it to continue providing its services as a reliable tool of the international community that also promotes stability and development in the region.

Fifth, solve the crisis of the UNRWA comprehensively and from its core by allocating it with fixed funds as part of the overall UN fund. It is no longer acceptable for the foundation to continue living off individuals, institutions and countries.

Sixth, we call on the Arab and Islamic countries to abide by the budgets pledged in favour of the UNRWA.

We extend our sincere thanks to all those who sought to solve the UNRWA financial crises, including the agency's administration by its commissioner-general.
