Hamas leader Jihad Taha in Lebanon called on the new Lebanese Parliament to mitigate suffering of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.    

In a press release on Wednesday, Taha called on the parliament to pass laws recognizing the civil and social rights of the Palestinian refugees in order to reinforce their steadfastness in the face of the Israeli projects of displacement and resettlement.   

Taha reiterated the necessity to unite all efforts to encounter the UNRWA policy of cutting its services to the Palestinian refugees as part of “Deal of the Century” through which the U.S. administration seeks to end the UNRWA’s role in order to pave the way for liquidating the Palestinian refugees’ issue and their cause.  

He confirmed that Hamas is adhering to the national partnership with all Palestinian and national factions in order to preserve the unity of the Palestinian position in Lebanon in a way that serves Palestinians’ interests in the face of all challenges targeting the Palestinian cause.  

The Hamas leader reaffirmed the necessity to activate the joint Palestinian cooperation and reinforce the relations between the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples amidst the schemes aiming at destabilising the region.      

He also stressed the need to formulate clear national principles of the joint Palestinian cooperation in order to develop an overall and effective strategy that will be followed by all Palestinian factions in order to preserve the national project and the Palestinian identity.
