Press Statement issued by Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum

Regarding Swedish activist Benjamin Ladraa

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Swedish activist Benjamin Ladraa for his courageous efforts and stance towards the just Palestinian cause and its oppressed people. In light of Mr. Ladraa's amazing feat of reaching the borders of Occupied Palestine after 11 months of walking from Sweden, we strongly condemn the Israeli Occupation's decision of preventing him from entering Occupied Palestine after being interrogated for six hours.  

This unjust decision and terrible treatment of Mr. Ladraa reflects the abhorrent policy of isolation imposed by the Israeli Occupation on our people in an attempt to conceal its crimes and injustice practised upon the people of Palestine. 

As a result,  these Israeli practices must be met with further action from international activists by expressing their solidarity with the people of Palestine and carrying out similar feats to Mr. Ladraa's in order to expose the ugliness of the Israeli Occupation.
