In light of this, the spokesperson of Hamas Hazem Qasem stated the following: 

The decision of the so-called Israeli military prosecutor to close an investigation into the Israeli Occupation's massacre which was perpetuated against innocent Palestinian civilians in Rafah on August 1, 2014 has no legal or political basis, for no criminal can be the judge of his crimes. 

This decision came as part of the Israeli Occupation’s bid to evade being held accountable for its atrocities documented by international media outlets, which killed 150 Palestinian civilians, most of them children and women. 

All concerned parties must exert effort to prosecute the Israeli Occupation’s leaders in the international criminal court, as the inability to hold them accountable for their atrocities will prompt them to continue committing crimes against the Palestinian people like the ongoing violent Israeli crackdown on the Great March of Return protests.
