The Palestinians’ right to return to their homeland is a national principle that no one can abolish, Hamas’ leader Atif Odwan said. 

In a press release, Odwan slammed anyone who questions the number of Palestinian refugees, acussing them of being complicit with the Israeli occupation in its plans to liquidate the Palestinian cause.  

Odwan confirmed that there are about 6 million Palestinian refugees who have a right to return to their homeland noting that the U.S. attempts to deny the Palestinians such right is doomed to fail as there are many international resolutions, including the U.N. General Assembly Resolution 194, calling for the Palestinians’ right to return. 

Odwan’s remarks came after the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley questioned UNRWA’s count of Palestinian refugees. 

 “The U.S. didn’t play a neutral role in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict because of its strong bias towards the Israeli occupation,” Odwan continued. 

He noted that the U.S. policies towards the Palestinian people contravene the international conventions and principles adding that the U.S. is trying to liquidate the Palestinian cause by taking the Palestine’s refugee issue off the table.
