"Hamas will not stand idly by while the humantarian situation in Gaza continue to deteriorate due to the siege imposed by the Israeli Occupation in Gaza," Hamas’ head in Gaza Yihya al-Sinwar said.  

During a press conference in Gaza on Wednesday, al-Sinwar noted that there are talks being held to reach a ceasefire agreement with the Israeli occupation in return for lifting siege on Gaza.   

Al-Sinwar confirmed that the Great March of Return which was launched about five months ago will continue until the rights of the Palestinian people are regained.  

An Invitation to Unity 

Al-Sinwar called on the Palestinian factions to unite on the basis of national partnership in order to resist the occupation and to protect the national project from being liquidated. 

The Hamas’ leader urged the Palestinian Authority to reconsider its policies towards Gaza amidst the unprecedented challenges surrounding the Palestinian cause.  

Al-Sinwar noted that his Movement had showed flexibility in its position towards the reconciliation, as it had dissolved the administrative committee, handed the border crossings over to the PA, facilitied the work of the consensus government, and agreed to Egypt’s proposal to end the Palestinian rift.    

Al-Sinwar explained that his Movement, along with Egypt and the United Nations, will continue exerting effort to restore the national unity and pressure the Israeli Occupation to lift its 12-year siege on Gaza. 

He stressed that the Palestinian resistance, including Hamas, will not pay a political price in return for lifting the siege on Gaza, noting that all sides and mediators understand this particular point.  

“The Palestinian resistance will continue to defend its people against the ongoing Israeli aggression,” al-Sinwar added confirming that the resistance will not bow to pressure to disarm. 

"The Palestinian people are fed up with the Israeli-imposed siege to be lifted, he continued, noting that his Movement will not connect such demand to achieving the reconciliation. 

"We Wren’t Warmongers"

Despite stating that the Palestinian resistance is ready to repulse any Israeli aggression on Gaza, al-Sinwar confirmed that the resistance, including his Movement, aren’t warmongers. 

The Hamas’ leader denied all rumours being spread in this regard to disrupt the efforts exerted to pressure the Israeli Occupation to lift its siege on Gaza. 

“We, alongside the Palestinian factions, are working to facilitie efforts exerted by regional and international parties to solve UNRWA’s financial crisis and Gaza’s salary crisis and set up projects to provide job opportunities,” al-Sinwar said.  

The Hamas’ head in Gaza slammed the PA for maintaining its sanctions on Gaza and continuing its security collaboration with the Israeli Occupation in a blatant breach of the outcomes of the Palestinian National Council meeting. 

Al-Sinwr added that Fatah’s negative response to Egypt’s proposal contradicts with its national principles and constants.
