Following the U.S. decision to halt its funding to UNRWA, the member of Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran stated the following:
The U.S. administration continues to pursue its arbitrary policies aimed at liquidating the Palestinian people’s rights. Following its decision to recognize Jerusalem as capital of the Israeli Occupation, the U.S. has made a dangerous move to liquidate the Palestine’s refugee issue by halting all funds to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) that helps the Palestine’s refugees and bears witness to their tragedy after they were forced out from their villages and towns by Zionist gangs in 1948.
In light of the U.S.-Israeli plans to suppress the truth about the Nakba and liquidate the Palestinians’ right to their homeland, we will uphold to the Palestinian refugees’ right to return to their occupied villages and towns. Such a right is a national constant that no Palestinian will ever waive as proven by their determination to continue participating in the Great March of Return.
We call on the free people of the world and human rights groups to stand against the U.S. policies towards the Palestinian people, which contravene the international laws and conventions with an obvious bias towards the Israeli Occupation.
