The Palestinian Authority (PA) violated all national and humantarian norms by cutting off financial allocations of a number of Palestinian detainees and ex-detainees, member of Hamas Political Bureau Musa Dudeen stated.

Dudeen added that the Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails started an open hunger strike to protest against the PA’s decision to stop paying financial allocations to their families and kids.    

He confirmed that the PA’s sanctions that target the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and, in particular, the families of detained people in the Israeli jails constitute a disgraceful act.

He added that the PA has no justification to take such a move that threatens the Palestinian people’s rights and serves as part of the PA’s bid to pave the way for liquidating the Palestinian cause.

He explained that the PA heeds the U.S. and Israeli calls to suspend paying financial allocations to the families of the Palestinians detainees in the Israeli jails, considering the PA’s sanctions as acts of betrayal against the Palestinians who made enormous sacrifices for the sake of their people.  

The Politburo member concluded that the Palestinian people would not forgive the PA if it failed them and maintained its sanctions on the Gaza Strip at a time when they are in a dire need for support to confront the Israeli occupation.
