The Oslo Accords has torn the Palestinian unity apart and divided the Palestinian people geographically and historically when a Palestinian group signed ‘the new Balfour Declaration’, member of Hamas Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya said. 

During his participation in a national summit dubbed as ‘Unity is our goal and resistance is our option’ on Thursday in Gaza, al-Hayya confirmed that the Palestinian people in the West Bank, Gaza, and in diaspora had opposed the Oslo Accords and urged the Palestinian Authority to pull out of that deal.  

Addressing the PA, al-Hayya said that nothing had remained to them, but the security collaboration. ‘What remains from the Oslo Accords, but security collaboration?’ he questioned.

“It’s high time that the PA should backtrack on its commitment to the Oslo Accords, which represents the worst form of the ‘Balfour Declaration’,” al-Hayya added.

Al-Hayya explained that such a deal has opened the door to the neighboring countries to normalize ties with the Israeli Occupation and paved the way for the implementation of ‘the deal of the century’ and judaization of Jerusalem.

As per the Oslo Accords, the key issues concerning the Palestinians, their homeland and holy sites were delayed to the final status negotiations, while the Israeli Occupation had made gains from that agreement.

Al-Hayya wondered how much money the PA has paid to support the Palestinian people in Jerusalem.

In response to those arguing that the Palestinian people will waive their rights, Al-Hayya said that the Palestinians are united on this tragic anniversary of signing the Oslo Accords and will continue their struggle until their demands are met.

Al-Hayya noted that the Oslo Accords has turned the Palestinian people’s struggle for freedom into a matter of negotiation over a disputed right adding the PA are boasting about undermining the Palestinians’ option of resistance.

After quarter a century of signing the Oslo Accords, al-Hayya urged the PA to reconsider its commitment to that deal, which had paved the way for liquidating the Palestinian cause. 

Al-Hayya suggested the restructuring of the national institutions based on national partnership to seek a way out of this quandary.   

The Hamas leader reiterated the necessity to achieve the national unity based on national principles and clear strategy aimed at resisting the occupation and its arbitrary policies.

“We want to rehabilitate the PLO and isolate the side dominating the organization,” al-Hayya added. 

Al-Hayya called for the elections to be held soon in order to end the partisanship and unilateralism of some sides.

Al-Hayya praised the efforts exerted by the PA to prosecute the Israeli Occupation’s leaders in the International Criminal Court.
