Hamas called for prosecuting the Israeli leaders who perpetrated the Sabra and Shatila massacre in the International Criminal Court.

“Such massacre comes as part of a series of atrocities committed by the Israeli Occupation against the Palestinian people and reflects its terrorist nature,” Hamas said in a press release issued by the Hamas Division of Refugee Affairs.

Hamas confirmed that the heinous crimes would not be forgotten by the passage of time, so the international community has responsibility for bringing the Israeli leaders to the ICC.  

Hamas called on the Lebanese government to show solidarity with the Palestinian refugees by granting them civil, economic, and social rights and alleviating the pressure on the Palestinians in Lebanon, which has prompted them to migrate to Europe and other places around the world.

The movement has also urged the friends of the Palestinian people to support the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon in order to fight off the U.S. attack against their issue and rights, including cutting off all UNRWA’s financial support, stripping the Palestinians of their refugee status, and pressuring them to accept resettlement in the neighboring countries.  

Today marks the 36^th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre, which was perpetrated on September 16, 1982, at the hands of the Israeli Occupation military and the ‘Lebanese isolationist groups’, including the Kataeb Party and the South Lebanon Army.

The number of victims in this appalling massacre ranges between 750 and 3500, most of whom are unarmed civilians, including women, children, and elderly people.
