The Hamas delegation’s visit to Cairo will be scheduled soon in coordination with Egyptian officials, Hamas leader Sami Abu Zohri said.   

In a press release, Abu Zohri explained that Fatah’s negative response to Egypt’s proposal to achieve the national reconciliation reflects its intention to impede such a move noting that some of Fatah’s conditions are impossible to meet.

Abu Zohri added that Fatah agreed to restore the national unity on condition that the Palestinian resistance disarm and neglect its national duty in defending its people against any Israeli aggression.

The Hamas leader urged commitment to the provisions of the 2011 and 2017 agreements.  

In response to Fatah’s call to back the Palestinian Authority President Mahoumed Abbas in the United Nations General Assembly, Abu Zohri said that such support depends on how much Abbas respects the national consensus and agrees to end the security collaboration with the Israeli Occupation and lift the sanctions he imposes on the Gaza Strip. 

It is worth noting that a delegation from Fatah, headed by Azzam al-Ahmed, is expected to arrive in Cairo on Monday for discussion of national reconciliation and mutual relations between the two sides.
