The large-scale arrest campaign launched by the Palestinian Authority-affiliated security forces against Palestinian activists in the West Bank comes in parallel with the PA-adopted ‘isolationist policy’ and its rejection to ‘other viewpoints’ representative of the vast majority of the Palestinian people and factions, Hamas leader Abdel Rahman Shadid said.    

In a press release, Shadid renewed the appeals of the Palestinian factions, including Hamas, for the PA to lift its sanctions on the Gaza Strip and end its ‘isolationist policy’.

He noted that the PA’s political arrests of Palestinians are reflective of its inability to achieve the Palestinian people’s demands: removing the sanctions on Gaza, stopping security collaboration with the Israeli Occupation, and involving all the Palestinian people and factions.  

He wondered how the PA’s detention of the Palestinian activists and ex-detainees and its sanctions on the Palestinian people in Gaza could serve the Palestinian people’s interest.  

The Hamas leader called on the PA to halt its crackdown on the Palestinians criticizing its punitive measures on Gaza, its isolationist policy, and its security collaboration with the Israeli Occupation.
