In letters sent out to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, The Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Alaraby and The ‎Secretary General for the Arab Organization for Human Rights Alaa Shalaby, The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas expressed its deep concern over the abduction of 4 Palestinian citizens passing through Egypt.

Two weeks have passed since the abduction, with no information or clues from the Egyptian Authorities to their whereabouts or condition, despite Hamas’s contact and cooperation.

Hamas explained that the 4 abductees had no precedents or problems with Egyptian security, and had obtained all the official documents necessary for their travel, and were granted 72-hour Egyptian pass permits.

The abductees were put on a deportation bus, which was attacked and the 4 youth abducted 200 meters away from Rafah crossing, in a point located between 2 checkpoints controlled by the Egyptian army.

The letters explain that the kidnappers recognized and knew their targets, and handpicked the 4 abductees from among the passengers without asking about their identities.

The letters added that following up on the incident, no Sinai militant group had claimed responsibility for the abduction, which indicates that such groups are not responsible for the attack.

Finally, Hamas held the Egyptian Authorities fully responsible for the lives of the 4 citizens, given that the abduction took place on Egyptian soil, and called for sparing no effort for their release so that they come back to their families.
