The member of Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran revealed that the Egyptian delegation’s visit to Gaza is a continuation of frequent meetings between the two sides, held in Cairo or in the coastal enclave.

In a press release, Badran noted that the visit came at a crucial time to prove that Egypt cares about Gaza, while the Israeli occupation makes escalating threats against the Gaza Strip.

Regarding the Palestinian Authority’s threats to impose new sanctions on Gaza, Badran confirmed that this move would result in uncontrolled escalation, stressing that Egypt is keen to avoid such ramifications.

The Hamas leader called on Fatah to respond to Egypt’s efforts and the Palestinian masses’ appeals by enforcing the reconciliation agreements, above all the 2011 agreement, on the basis of national partnership rather than unilateralism.

“Our hands will remain extended until reaching a true national unity,” concluded Badran, adding that this is the only way to fight off the Israeli occupation and U.S. schemes aimed to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
