The Islamic Reistance Movement Hamas welcomed Saturday the UN motion allowing the Palestinian flag to be flown in front of UN buildings.

The motion was passed with 119 nations voting in favor, 8 voting no and 45 abstaining.

Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri issued a press release thanking all the nations that voted in favor of the motion.

He called for building on this symbolic step, and for pursuing all possible efforts in order to give the Palestinian people the right to freedom and self-determination.

On a related note, Abu Zuhri condemned the US for putting a number of Palestinian figures and institutions on terror lists, adding that the American attitude represents injustice and enmity to the Arab and Islamic nations.
