Hamas leader Hasan Yousef urged the Palestinian Authority to stop political arrests of the Palestinians in the West Bank, noting that such crackdowns are not in line with the Palestinian people’s interests. 

In a press release, Yousef called on the PA to facilitate the national reconciliation on the basis of true partnership in order to embrace together the option of resistance and fight off the ‘Deal of the Century’.

Yousef confirmed that the PA’s arrests of Palestinian civilians, activists, journalists, and national figures, threaten the Palestinian fabric and unity, especially amid the dangers posed to the Palestinian cause, including settlement expansion, judaization of Jerusalem, and the U.S. stances biased in favour of the Israeli occupation.  

He reiterated the necessity to restore the national unity to resist the occupation and alleviate the Palestinian people’s suffering in Gaza.
