Hamas movement has expressed its profound sorrow over killing a Palestinian fisherman called Mustafa Abu Ouda by Egyptian soldiers late Wednesday after he had come close to the maritime boundary of Egypt unintentionally.

Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniya said that the movment's pain grew stronger after they received the news about the death of a Palestinian fisherman at the hands of an Egyptian Navy solider, especially following the enormous efforts exerted by Egypt’s General Intelligence Directorate to break the Israeli siege on Gaza. 

During the funeral of Mustafa Abu Ouda, Haniya declared that he had contacted senior officials from the Egyptian intelligence seeking clarification for the regrettable incident.

“The Egyptian intelligence assured me that they would follow up the details of the incident and interrogate the perpetrator of this crime”, said Hanyia.

Meanwhile, the top Hamas leader confirmed that the expansion of fishing zone off Gaza’s beach was one of the issues being discussed with and agreed upon by the Egyptian officials.
