Member of Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran called for prosecuting all persons involved in the assassination of the former Palestinian Authority President Yassir Arafat.
In a press release on the 14th anniversary of Arafat’s assassination, Badran said that if Arafat were alive today, he would heal the internal rift on the basis of national partnership immediately.
“If Arafat were still alive, he would cut all ties with the Israeli occupation,” Badran added.
Badran hailed Arafat for defending the Palestinian cause and supporting his people during the second Palestinian Intifada (uprising).
The Hamas leader noted that Yasser Arafat was highly respected abroad at the official and popular levels.
He called on all the Palestinian parties, to whom Arafat is a national figure, to restore the national unity on the basis of partnership and enforcement of all agreement signed by all factions.
“If Arafat were alive, he would have been discussing with the Palestinian factions’ leaders the ways to end the occupation and thwart the US-drafted ‘Deal of the Century,"Barden concluded
