Hamas leader Ismail Redwan has revealed some details of the second phase of the ceasefire understandings with the Israeli occupation and described his movement’s meeting with senior Egyptian officials as “positive”.

In a press release, Redwan said that the second phase of the ceasefire agreement includes expanding the fishing zone off Gaza’s coast from 14 to 20 nautical miles, supplying Gaza with an additional high-voltage electricity line, known as Line 161, and facilitating exports from the blockaded strip.

Redwan added that reconstructing civilian houses and infrastructure and launching projects designed to provide job opportunities for Gaza’s graduates and workers would be part of the second phase of the ceasefire understandings with the Israeli occupation.

Redwan confirmed that the meetings between Hamas and the Egyptian security delegation were positive and came as part of Egypt’s endeavours to alleviate the Palestinian people’s suffering in Gaza and restore the national unity.

Egypt and the UN Middle East envoy Nickolay Mladenov are holding talks with the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation to hammer out a ceasefire agreement and improve the humantarian situation in the impoverished enclave.
