Hamas was not asked to pay a political price in return for a ceasefire agreement with the Israeli Occupation, member of Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran said.

In a press release, Badran confirmed that the Israeli occupation “begged for a ceasefire” with the Palestinian factions during its latest aggression on Gaza.

Badran’s remarks came in response to the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s claim that “Hamas begged for a ceasefire and a cessation of the fighting.”

Commenting on linking the ceasefire understandings with the “deal of the century” by some parties, Badran reiterated that Hamas would not make concessions on the Palestinian national constants and rights.

He added that the Palestinian resistance has won the support of the Palestinian people who embraced the option of resistance until restoring their rights.  

Badran estimated that Lieberman’s resignation is a result of an internal conflict over how to deal with Gaza, especially “after the Israeli military failure to deter the Palestinian people from embracing the option of resistance in their fight for basic rights.”  

The Hamas leader stressed that the Great March of Return was held as per a national and factional decision to convey the Palestinian people’s message that they would not waive their right to return to their homeland and live a decent life.

Badran noted that Hamas refused to bind a prisoner swap deal with lifting the Israeli siege on Gaza despite the urgent need for Gaza blockade to be lifted immediately.     

Netanyahu seems to be stalling for time over a new prisoner exchange deal, Badran added.

Badran concluded that his movement is making contacts with all countries, parties, and influential figures, to halt the “accelerating wave of normalisation with the Israeli Occupation.”
