Hamas is ready to enforce the 2011 Agreement once the Palestinian Authority lifts its punitive measures on Gaza
Hamas is ready to enforce the 2011 Agreement once the Palestinian Authority lifts its punitive measures on Gaza, the movement’s spokesperson Abdel Latif al-Qanoa said.
In a press release, al-Qanoa added that any efforts exerted to enforce the outcomes of the 2011 agreements before lifting the Palestinian Authority-imposed sanctions on the Gaza Strip would fail to achieve the national unity.
Al-Qanoa noted that the Palestinian factions were looking forward to unifying the National Council in order to support their people in their struggle against the Israeli occupation and fight off the challenges surrounding the Palestinian cause.
In 2011, the Palestinian factions agreed to form a national consensus government, whose task was holding parliamentary and general elections.
The Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Bahoum said that the Hamas delegation left Cairo early Saturday after reconciliation talks with Egyptian officials.
