The Hamas leader Esan Da’lees revealed the details of the latest round of meetings held with the Egyptian Intelligence.

The Hamas leader said that the movement discussed with the Egyptian leadership three issues: reconciliation, re-enforcement of the ceasefire with the Israeli occupation, and bilateral relations.

‘While the Egyptian Intelligence briefed Hamas on its proposal to end the Palestinian split, the movement reiterated its stance regarding reconciliation. Hamas is committed to the previous agreements that have been consensually signed including Cairo 2011 and Beirut 2017 understandings’, Da’lees stated.

He also added that Hamas discussed the Egyptian endeavours to re-enforce 2014 ceasefire understandings with the Israeli occupation.

‘The Egyptian Intelligence confirmed that the Israeli occupation will adhere to the truce’, Da’lees clarifies.

As regards the bilateral relations between Hamas and Egypt, the Hamas leader said that both sides shared positive ideas to alleviate the crippling siege imposed on the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation. The Egyptian leadership stressed that they will keep Rafah border-crossing open to facilitate the travel of students and patients.

He concluded that Egypt strives to remove the obstacle for reconciliation, but Fatah is still determined not to adhere to the previously agreements and therefore undermines the efforts in this regard.
