The head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniya called Monday evening the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in an attempt to foil the US draft resolution condemning the Palestinian resistance in the UN General Assembly.
Haniya said that the US draft resolution violated the international laws and resolutions that legalised resisting the occupation by all means possible.
The top Hamas leader said that this resolution came as part of the Israeli-biased US policy, which targets the Palestinian national rights and constants, including the US decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem, cutting all UNRWA funds to liquidate the Palestinian refugees’ right to return to their homeland, and delegitimising the Palestinian people’s right to defend themselves, as well as criminalising the Palestinian resistance.
The Turkish FM, on the other hand, stressed that his country has been exerting enormous efforts through its mission to the UN General Assembly to fight off this resolution.
Cavusoglu noted that Turkey would “do all what is needed to block this resolution” adding that his country, that took a constant stance towards the Palestinian cause, would always support the Palestinian people and their rights.
