The Israeli and US attempts to sever the ties between Hamas and European countries have failed, the head of Hamas’ foreign affairs Osama Hamdan said.     

In a press release, Hamdan described his movement’s relations with the international community as “good and are being developed just as the movement plans.”

“Since its founding, Hamas have sought to build up a political network of relations with all sides supporting the Palestinian cause,” Hamdan added.

Hamdan noted Hamas’ foreign relations had faced some challenges, some were related to the developments of the Palestinian cause and others were influenced by the US and Israeli pressure. 

However, Hamdan stressed, such attempts had influenced Hamas’ relations with one side or two at the most.  

When asked if Hamas has covert and overt international relations, Hamdan said that the resistance movement studied the conditions of each country before starting to cement its relations with it.

At the end of the day, Hamas is concerned about the gains these relations may bring to the Palestinian people, above all recruiting support for the Palestinian cause, Hamdan added.

Despite the negative influence of the Israeli and US pressure on several states, Hamdan concluded, such attempts gave Hamas a chance to remind the world of the daily suffering of the Palestinians living under the occupation.
